POSITION SUMMARY:
IREX in Ukraine seeks a qualified Program Assistant for the USAID-funded Ukraine National Identity Through Youth (UNITY) program. UNITY (Mriemo ta diemo) program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IREX in partnership with Building Ukraine Together (BUR), Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Ukraine), Making Cents International (MCI), International Republican Institute (IRI), and Zinc Network. This five-year activity launched in 2020 is designed to foster vested ownership among Ukrainian youth in their country’s democratic, European future by further mobilizing youth leadership around a values-based conception of Ukrainian identity grounded in innovation, engagement, and pluralism.
The Program Assistant, reporting to the Access to Education Lead, will collaborate closely with the program team to provide comprehensive support in logistics, document management, translation, and other program processes. The main objective of this role is to assist and ensure the efficient and effective functioning of program operations.
Frequent travel throughout Ukraine will be required, with the position based in Kyiv. Position is contingent upon funding.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide programmatic, financial, administrative, and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of the program;
- Assist in planning and organization of program offline and online events (trainings, workshops, working group meetings, conferences, etc.);
- Liaise with Financial and Administrative Team on payments, contracts, vendors and consultants, ensure all necessary documents are obtained and/or sent out;
- Assist in procuring goods and services, provide administrative support with payments, contracts etc;
- Arrange delivery and dispatch of UNITY correspondence and materials;
- Register, organize, keep track, and file UNITY documentation (applications, proposals, concept papers etc);
- Travel to regions to support program events;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least bachelor’s degree in international development, public administration, management, political science, communications and/or another relevant field is preferred;
- Experience of work in NGO sector and/or international development projects in similar areas;
- Interest in working with youth and creating enabling environment and opportunities for youth;
- Fluency (written and oral) in Ukrainian, Russian and English;
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a calm, friendly demeanor under stressful situations;
- Strong communication and customer service skills;
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail;
- A positive and cooperative attitude and willingness to work as a member of a team;
- Ability to travel (contingent upon actual epidemiological situation and based on security recommendations provided by IREX and Government);
- Ukrainian citizenship or residency with work authorization is required.
