Position Summary:
The Project Associate, Security Assistance Division will provide administrative support and complete project-related tasks for a team implementing three core Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) activities for enhancing security of radiological and nuclear facilities in Ukraine and provide assistance with the development of foundational skills, methodologies, and core competencies to ensure effective mitigation of the current challenges at the nuclear stations and formation of long term, sustainable solutions for Ukraine during and after the war. Programming will include strengthening the security of Ukrainian government entities and critical infrastructure object/assets in radiology and nuclear sectors.
Programming activities may take the form of both in-person and virtual Tabletop Exercises (TTX), practical workshops, research studies, translation of the best practice documentation and guidelines, and development of the E-learning web platform courses. Under the supervision of a Senior Project Lead, the Project Associate will support the technical, financial, and administrative aspects of assigned projects to meet CRDF Global and funder objectives.
This position is based in CRDF Global’s office in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supports research, planning, and organizational tasks for programming in nuclear and radiological assets protection in Ukraine;
- Supports the Project Leads in working with subject matter experts to design and implement in-person and online TTXs and trainings, identification of the best practice literature and guidance in radiology and nuclear protection for translation into Ukrainian language, and E-learning courses in radiology, nuclear and insider threat protection development;
- Provides administrative support for programs, including budget tracking, materials development, internal and external communication;
- Drafts correspondence and communicates with stakeholders including funders, subject matter experts, and international partners in academia, public and private sector to coordinate activities;
- Drafts documents including memos, meeting notes, event readouts, project reports, and evaluation reports;
- Oversees document and information management to ensure records and databases, including electronic and physical files, are current and complete;
- Supports program or organization-wide initiatives;
- Supports other programs and staff, as required;
- Travels within Ukraine and internationally as appropriate;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills and knowledge requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field;
- 2+ years of progressively responsible work experience in managing donor-funded programming;
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to change;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Strong sense of teamwork and interpersonal skills;
- Professional fluency in English and Ukrainian;
- Ukraine work authorization.
Preferred:
- Experience working in donor-funded projects, especially for the U.S. government or multilateral institutions;
- Experience working with a non-profit organization;
- Experience working with partners in Ukraine and US/Europe including government agencies, security forces, NGOs, or private/academia sector institutions;
- Background, knowledge or familiarity with the trends in radiological/nuclear assets and critical infrastructure protection but not mandatory.
