Position Title: Project Assistant (M&E)
Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine
Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G5
Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, Nine months with the possibility of extension
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible
Closing Date: 06 June 2024 

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Senior Programme Support Coordinator, and direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, the successful candidate will provide general support to the implementation of IOM, Mission in Ukraine’s efforts with regard to reporting, monitoring, evaluation and accountability.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Draft data collection tools, templates, and assist in regular data process.
  2. Review and compile monitoring reports, project progress reports, evaluation reports, photographs, case studies video documentaries, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  3. Collaborate with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) related information.
  4. Provide technical support and guidance to staff members for all M&E related activities including training of staff members on M&E concepts, skills, and tools.
  5. Draft training materials, communication materials, and knowledge products related to the program/project and M&E.
  6. Participate in virtual and offline internal and external monitoring, organize and facilitate various events such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
  7. Act as focal point for administrative coordination for implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  8. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  9. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
  10. Undertake duty travels within Ukraine.
  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma/certificate with at least five years of relevant professional experience;

OR 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook;
  • Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
  • Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things.

Languages

For all applicants, fluency in Ukrainian and English is required (oral and written).

A prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station and work permit, as applicable.
