arche noVa — Initiative for People in Need is a religiously independent non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Dresden, Germany, working in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our primary focus is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Further information about the organisation: www.arche-nova.org.

arche noVa has started a relief program in Ukraine responding to the unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Since the 24th of February 2022, the war in Ukraine has shown no signs of abating and continues to drive increasing humanitarian needs across the country. The hostilities have resulted in civilian casualties that continue to grow and significant damage to infrastructure and buildings. The war has affected all spheres of life and uprooted millions of Ukrainians.

For the implementation of the arche noVa`s relief measures in Ukraine, we are looking for a Finance Officer (national position)

Duration: until the 31st of December 2024, with the possibility of an extension
Position to be filled: asap
Duty station: city of Kharkiv
Contract: consultancy or labour, with one month of a probation period

Under the direct supervision of the Finance, Administration and HR Coordinator, the position holder will contribute to the smooth, efficient, and effective implementation of the arche noVa`s relief activities in Ukraine, working closely with the Project Coordinator and other team members as well as the implementing partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the relief measures implementation by the provision of a range of administrative services required for the smooth project implementation
  • Supporting the Finance, Administration and HR Coordinator and other project team members in performing finance-related processes and tasks, including payments, payrolls, fund requests, etc.
  • Collecting and reviewing supporting documents for completeness and accuracy, preparing payment vouchers for review and approval
  • Copying, scanning, filing and maintaining accounting and finance records, reports and other documents in a proper and sequential manner
  • Processing other relevant documents ensuring compliance with the donor`s guidelines, arche noVa`s internal regulations and Ukrainian legislation
  • Translating internal documents from English into Ukrainian and vice versa upon request
  • Performing other relevant duties as and when required

Requirements:

  • Degree in finance, administration and other relevant fields
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in administration and finance
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting standards, as well as Ukrainian legislation in relevant fields, including but not limited to the Labour and Tax Codes
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good command of Ukrainian and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory
  • Strong self-organisational skills
  • Ability to work under stress
