Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine
Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G7
Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, Six months with possibility of extension

Context:

Since 2014, the IOM Data and Analytics team has been collecting, analysing and reporting on human mobility, needs and conditions in Ukraine. The scale of displacement and humanitarian needs across Ukraine remain extremely high. As a result, there is a high demand for timely and credible information on the location, intentions, needs and situation of vulnerable communities across the country. The IOM Data and Analytics team support all organisations engaged in delivering services and support to those communities with data which is presented in a format that is both engaging and actionable.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and Programme Manager (DTM), and the direct supervision of the Reporting Officer and in close coordination with the Information Management (IM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officers, the Senior Reporting Associate will be responsible for supporting analysis and the development of information products from the Data and Analytics team at IOM Ukraine, covering research outputs from across IOM Ukraine’s portfolio, with special focus on humanitarian and recovery assessments and displacement tracking and surveys in particular.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. In Collaboration with the reporting officer, produce regular reports, information products, and presentations including, but not limited to, the analytical and statistical reports, displacement profiles, maps and other relevant products.
  2. Compile, summarise, analyse and present data collected through representative surveys as well as through location and site assessments to produce high quality textual information and data visualisations.
  3. Help information products serve as evidence base and are adapted to the needs of partners and other humanitarian through localization and improved accessibility, including but not limited to translation of products to local language.
  4. Lead effective and timely distribution and communication of Data and Analytics products.
  5. Coordinate with various internal and external parties to initiate requests, obtain feedback, and follow-up on actions items, etc.
  6. Proof-read documents to ensure adherence to IOM standards, attend meetings, take meeting minutes, and provide support with layout design.
  7. Coordinate and monitor the financial, administrative and technical aspects of product publication in line with IOM policies.
  8. Produce correspondence on reporting and dissemination issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
  9. Respond to information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain records of correspondence and ensure email dissemination lists are up to date.
  10. Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development and regular update of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) for reporting, publication and dissemination.
  11. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High School Degree/Certificate with seven years of relevant professional experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Information Management, Sociology, Applied mathematics, Computer Scienсe or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience working in international organizations and the humanitarian community will be considered an advantage;
  • Experience with large scale data collection efforts in development or humanitarian contexts

would be a distinct advantage;

  • Experience in relevant issues such as migration, displacement, and humanitarian assistance would be considered an advantage;
  • Experience working in graphic softwares (e.g. Microsoft Powerpoint, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator) is desired;
  • Experience with data collection, research, and report
  • Strong computer background, including experience with relational databases, Microsoft applications, spreadsheets, and word

SKILLS

  • Excellent writing skills in English are required;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Writing technical documents, translating/planning specifications to technical briefs for data capture/analysis, and compiling diverse datasets.

Languages

For this position, fluency in English and Ukrainian is required (oral and written).
