International Charitable Foundation «SOS Children’s Villages» is looking for a professional to join our team at the position of Deputy National Director (f/m)
Mission of the position:
The Deputy National Director is responsible for the implementation of Standard, Grant and Emergency response projects and reporting on it within the National Association (NA), staff coordination and quality of project management, within the frame of the international SOS Children’s Villages organisation’s vision, mission, values and strategy as well as donors` requirements. In case of National Director absence (e.g. vacation, sick leave, etc) Deputy National Director taking over a task and duties of National Director without additional PoA. He/she supports the strategy development within the direction of the organisation, planning long and short term goals?.
Main responsibilities:
- Suport National Director in his tasks, especially in strategic planning, advocacy, coopertion with the Board, programme planning including ER, etc.
- Supor National Director in his other tasks if this is requested by the National Director,
- Perform all tasks and responsibility of National director definded by the National Director JD, Statute and other national policies and procedures (in case of ND absence or inability to perform tasks), without additional PoA.
- Effective operational and supervisonal management of the team responsible for implementation of all Standard, Grant and Emergency response projects implemented by NA in accordance with the organization`s goals.
- Provides support to the responsible area managers in achieving the goals and indicators of the respective projects and programmes.
- Participate and contribute to the projects development bringing perspective of the locations needs and knowledge management in projects development phase.
- Coordinates the activities of teams responsible for programme and projects implementation, planning and resource allocation.
- Promotes accountability at all levels of the National Association.
- Supports the planning, budgeting, controlling expenditures and identifying sources of funding for programs and projects.
- Supports the development and implementation of grant applications.
- Takes into account financial aspects in the development of short-term and long-term goals and initiatives.
- Establishes and maintaining relationships with other organisations and private partners for joint programme implementation and support.
- Represents the interests of the NGO at external events, conducting negotiations and presentations.
- Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of reports on Standard projects, including conducting of annual review and preparation of RBM implementation report.
- Responsible within own area of work to prevent and protect children of all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination based on SOS Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy and Regulation principles, as well as adult safeguarding and asset protection.
Must criteria:
- University degree in business administration, economics, education, social science or equivalent working experience
- Minimum 5 years leadership experience at a senior management or executive level in multi-cluster INGOs with the focus on child protection
- Prior experience in one or more of the following functional areas: child and family development, social services provision, community development, education, grant writing, humanitarian aid
- Experienced in project management, change management, driving innovation
- English language fluency in addition to the national language
- Readiness to travel nationally and internationally as required
Competencies — knowledge, skills, abilities:
- Experience in program/project management and planning
- Good knowledge of legal issues relating to social welfare
- Strong analytical and conceptual abilities
- Integrity: able to state views openly and act in line with beliefs, maintain the organisation’s values, ability to gain the trust and respect of stakeholders.
- Working experience in an international or complex organisation to be able to understand the procedures and be open for cooperation
- Driven to work with others, able to build partnerships and networks
- Strong leadership skills
- High-level of financial management skills
- Organisational skills — skills of planning and organising resources necessary for achievement of goals
- Driven to grow him/herself and to develop others; identifying and supporting development opportunities of co-workers; delegation skills, conflict resolution
- High-level written and verbal communication and presentation skills; strong in negotiations and influencing others
- Ability to keep deadlines and to work in stressful conditions
