Project Description:
The purpose of the Support for Trade, Recovery Opportunities, and National Growth in Ukraine (STRONG UA) activity is to support Ukrainian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at scale to: i) invest in their recovery and growth; ii) develop new market linkages; iii) enhance their innovation and competitiveness, and iv) support a more conducive enabling environment to accelerate private sector growth during and after the war.
Position Description :
The GESI Expert will lead the integration of gender equality and social inclusion principles across all project activities. This position will focus on ensuring that the project is inclusive, addressing barriers faced by women and marginalized groups, and fostering equitable opportunities for women-owned businesses through Ukraine’s recovery onward. Please note that this position is contingent upon the award of the proposal/USAID approval.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement a GESI strategy aligned with STRONG’s GESI analysis to ensure inclusivity across all project activities.
- Provide technical support to project teams on integrating GESI recommendations into project activities.
- Design and conduct training sessions for project staff, partners, and stakeholders on GESI best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of GESI interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Contribute to capacity building of banks, financial institutions, and other SME ecosystem stakeholders to promote equitable practices and opportunities for women entrepreneurs and marginalized groups.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in GESI-focused roles within USAID-funded projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting GESI analyzes and integrating findings into project design and implementation.
- Knowledge of Ukrainian local laws and policies related to gender equality and social inclusion.
- Fluency in Ukrainian and English (oral and written).
