Analyst/Writer
Background
The USAID Harvest Activity enables supported male and female grain and oilseed farmers, including marginalized and underserved groups, to return production and income for target commodities to at least pre-war levels while improving production efficiency and profitability and position farmers to market their crops more successfully and profitably in the wartime context. Ukraine Harvest will focus on five target commodities: barley, corn, soybean, sunflower, and wheat. In connection to the overall goals, Ukraine Harvest has three primary objectives:
Objective 1: Profitable, Climate-Smart, Market-Oriented Production Expanded
Objective 2: Farmers’ Access to Profitable Markets Improved
Objective 3: Market System Efficiency and Inclusiveness Improved
Position Description:
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine (MAPF) plays a crucial role in shaping public perception of agricultural reform, irrigation, land reclamation, and land reform. Effective communication strategies are vital to engaging with the public, stakeholders, and international partners to support the Ministry’s objectives. To enhance these efforts, the Ministry seeks to recruit an experienced Analyst Writer who will provide comprehensive written communication materials supported by in-depth analysis and data.
The Analyst Writer will collaborate with the MAPF’s press service to develop high-quality communication materials that effectively convey the benefits and progress of key reforms. This role requires a strong command of media analysis, content creation, and public discourse evaluation to support the Ministry’s outreach objectives.
Responsibilities:
The Analyst Writer will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Analyze public discourse and media coverage of agricultural reform, irrigation, land reclamation, and land reform.
- Research open sources (including foreign ones) to gather valuable information for content development.
- Prepare compelling and data-supported written materials about the Ministry’s reforms.
- Create and formulate communication messages in collaboration with the Ministry’s press service.
- Assist the press service in fostering productive communication and effective cooperation with partners.
- Verify and update information from open sources to strengthen the Ministry’s communication efforts.
- Adapt content to suit different target audiences and contexts.
- Minimize negative narratives by developing persuasive materials that support the Government’s reform policies.
- Ensure high-quality standards in written communication materials, including grammar, spelling, and syntax.
- Analyze international and national media coverage of the Ministry’s reforms and integrate positive messages into communication materials.
- Ensure the correct use of economic, financial, and technical terminology in all texts.
- Preparation of author’s columns, theses for speeches at conferences, forums, public events, articles in specialized media.
- Create and edit various materials, including press releases, newsletters, website content, social media posts, speeches, articles, presentations, letters, and recommendations for international partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or graduate degree in public relations, media relations, journalism, strategic communications, government, marketing, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience as a writer in government and/or business settings.
- Proven experience in creating press releases, social media content, web pages, articles, and marketing materials.
- Proficiency in media monitoring and analysis.
- Fluency in business Ukrainian and English/
- Advanced computer literacy, including MS Office applications and related programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEO and SMM tools, with the ability to apply them effectively.

This position is based in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Salary
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications
