Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional for the Country Office to fill the position of the:

Finance Assistant (full-time, Kyiv)

(internal SAP code: Finance Assistant)

On behalf of the German government, the EU, and other donors, GIZ is already supporting Ukraine in its reconstruction efforts. The focus is on building municipal and social infrastructure, ensuring reliable energy supplies and strengthening the Ukrainian economy. At the same time, GIZ is supporting the country on its path towards EU accession. It provides advice on necessary reforms and drives the modernisation of public administration. Its decades-long record of cooperation and a network spanning the entire country mean that GIZ is well placed to offer tailored support that is both forward-looking and responsive to citizens’ needs. Around 500 national employees work for GIZ in Ukraine, in about 45 projects.

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to support daily operations of Finance Team at Country Office.

Key responsibilities include inter alia:

  • Filing and archiving of financial documentation.
  • Provides administrative support for IDA finance unit page
  • Registration of entrance documents.
  • Support in preparation processes for audits and internal controls.
  • Formal checks of invoices in compliance with internal rules and procedures.
  • Draft and check the documents for cash desk.
  • Processing of primary financial documents for GIZ projects using the software WINPACCS and ensuring compliance with the GIZ rules in project management.
  • Develops presentation in Power Point, calculation, and reports upon request from superior.
  • Ensuring good communication and flow of information within the GIZ country office and with the projects.
  • Protocoling (keeping minutes) of meetings.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 3 months experience in related area.
  • Work experience in GIZ would be a benefit.
  • Native level of Ukrainian language. Excellent command of English and/or German.
  • Good practical knowledge of information and communication.
  • Confidential treatment of data and information.
  • Reliability, flexibility and stress resistance, high loyalty, high self-discipline, team player.

Employment conditions

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. The assignment starts as soon as possible. Contract duration is 1 year, with the possibility of prolongation.
